Opportunities From: Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District

Join us as we pioneer the first-ever BIMPRD Volunteer Work Party for the new park addition, "8 Acre Woods!" During the landmark occasion, we will work with the Bainbridge Island Parks and Trails Foundation and the Rolling Bay Community to enhance the native plant landscape through invasive, non-native plant removal. Be sure to dress for the weather, wear durable/long-sleeved attire (as we'll be among blackberry!), bring a reusable water bottle (we'll have water to share!), and wear closed-toe shoes.

This work party will be best for those ages 8 and up, who don't mind tackling blackberry and navigate well on uneven terrain off trail. Parking is limited--please carpool or bike/walk over if you can! We hope to see you there!

Join the Park District's natural resources team and the Bainbridge Island Land Trust at Manzanita Park this fall. Explore this lesser-explored northern park and its miles of trails, wetlands, and forest.   Well suited for children ages six and up who are comfortable using some small hand tools and walking off trail.

Help lead drills in practices and coach the girls in games. 

Practices are Wednesday nights at Halilts Elementary School and games are Saturdays at Poulsbo Middle School.

Join the Park District's trails team on the Forest to Sky Trail this fall. Explore this beautiful trail that connects Battle Point Park to the Grand Forest. Well suited for children ages eight and up who are comfortable using some small hand tools and walking a mile or so throughout the two-hour work party. We will meet in the southeast corner of the ballfield parking lot to access the trail. 

Join the Park District's Natural Resources team this fall in caring for the woods and meadows of Moritani Preserve by managing invasive species, maintaining garden beds, and planting natives when the weather is right.

Open gym volunteer for commodore

Join us for our BIMPRD Winter Basketball League as a coach and have fun teaching essential skills and strategies to players during games. Volunteer today and make a positive impact on young athletes.

Grades 1-4: 7-8-game season; 20-minute halves, running clock; no overtime; equal playing time for all players; Two 1 hour practices a week; basketball to keep .
Grade 5: 8-9-game season; 20-minute halves, running clock; no overtime; equal playing time for all players; Two 1 hour practices a week; basketball to keep.
Grades 6-8: 6-7-game season; 20-minute halves, running clock; 3-minute overtime; Two 1 hour practices a week; no basketball; end of season double elimination tournament. 

Practices: Practices are twice a week for an hour. They can be as early as 4:00p and as late as 8:00p. They can be held at Blakely, Halilts, Ordway, or Sakai. Where and what time your practice is will be determined at our coaches meeting TBD.

League Games: League games are on Saturdays. Games are projected to start January 10 and end roughly March 7. Games can be as early as 8:00am and as late as 7:00p. Games will be held on Bainbridge or in the North Kitsap School District gyms.

Basketball Jerseys: Each new player will purchase a reversible basketball jersey.  Volunteer Coaching: We rely on volunteers to help make this program successful. No experience necessary. We can help you along the way.
