April is Earth Month and we are celebrating through stewardship! Join the Park District, BI Parks & Trails Foundation, and BI Land Trust at Manzanita Park to restore habitat along the Manzanita Watershed. We'll be removing invasive plant species and creating habitat piles.
Why Manzanita Watershed? The Manzanita Watershed is our priority restoration area as it supports the local and greater Puget Sound ecosystem by providing critical habitat for wildlife and a healthy groundwater supply for all. Protecting and caring for this watershed, connected through Manzanita Ridge Preserve and Manzanita Park, ensures a healthy environment for conservationists and recreationists alike!
This activity would be more suitable for children ages six and up who are comfortable using some tools, walking off trail on uneven surfaces, and potentially getting pricked by blackberry thorns. We will have leather gloves and water to refill your reusable water bottles, plus some wildflower seeds to give away!
